Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Connecticut

loan to friend

my husband and i loaned $9000 to a friend of ours over the past 6 months. it is now taking a he said/she said turn for the worst over when we were expecting to be paid back. since it was a verbal contract and nothing was signed what can i do to get my money back? small claims court is only up to $5000, where can i file? the friend lives in florida, but the money was sent from connecticut.

You can sue him in Fla. You can also probably sue him in Connecticut, but any Connecticut judgment will need to be brought to Fla for enforcement, assuming this guy has assets.
