This is from the viewer who asked about the timeshare and my question was what did the divorce decree say.

Since you never married the joint owner of the timeshare, you may be able to bring a partition action in Superior Court, which is an action that requests the court to "divide" the property. This prevents you from being forced to be "attached" to the joint owner when you no longer want to be.

However, two issues arise in this context. Where is the timeshare located and what is its fair market value. There may be jurisdictional issues because of the location. (You may not be able to bring the action in Connecticut) Furthermore, if the timeshare is not worth much, bringing an action might cost more than its worth.
