Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Connecticut
neighbor dammaging fence.
We had a fence put up on both sides and top of our property. I had the property surveyed and staked and strung the lines so it could be installed accordind to code which is at least 6 inches to my side of the property, which it was. My neighbor is agitated and obsessed with fence. She has pulled out most of the survey stakes and continues to stack rocks. mulch and debris against the fence that faces her side. I approached her and asked her to please stop this behavior. She went into a tyrade and repeatly said she would she would shoot me. I called the local police and to make a long story short the cop said he would arrest her but would also arrest me for tresspassing since I went on her property to speak with her about this matter. It obvious this woman is not mentally stable, so I have been hesitant to remove some her work which I can do without going on her property. I think this would just insight her more. To sum it up she is dammaging my fence and going on my property to do so. Its obvious the police feel that they should not have to be bothered with this type of matter although I still don't understand how someone can say they are going to shoot you and the police do nothing. What should I do.

Re: neighbor dammaging fence.
You stated that the fence is 6 inches from the edge of your property. Technically, everything your neighbor then leans against the fence is trespassing onto your property. She is also damaging your personal property. There are two ways to solve this problem. One, you attempt to resolve the matter with her. This doesn't seem likely. As a result, another option would be to sue her for trespass, damaging your personal property, negligence, harassment, threatening behavior and the like.
