Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Connecticut
Property damage
One and a half years ago, construction on the state highway in front of my house began. Now that the road has finally been paved ''like new'' (phrase used by the state DOT), my house still shakes whenever a tractor trailer drives past it. It's as bad as it was when the road was torn up during the construction phase. Since my house never shook before the construction but now does even with a brand new highway, I suspect the year and a half of construction caused structural damage yet I cannot prove it. If I wished to sue the construction company who did the main work (not the state DOT), is it possible to get a case like this to trial by jury?

Re: Property damage
You can get to a jury if someone was at fault. You're going to need an expert to say that the construction company failed to meet the proper standard of care and that is why your house shakes. You're also going to have to prove damages. Probably expensive to do.
