Legal Question in Immigration Law in Connecticut

Will 245i help me once it's out?

I am Indian citizen, been here for about 15 years. The first time I came as a student, 2nd time a tourist both times staying years beyond my visa. I have been in restaurant management field with a masters in hospitality admn. working on my ss# as a normal citizen would by getting paychecks after deducting taxes. When the 245i was introduced a few years ago, I consulted a lawyer about my eligiblity who advised me that the only way it could benefit me was if I found an employer who could show that no suitable american citizen was available to fill a position related to my field. Another way was of investing 500,000 us dollars in a business or firm and sponsoring oneself. So I ended up not applying for the 245i.

Recently I learnt of other people that have gotten sponsored for fields not related to theirs or by investing a small amount of money like 50k. Is this possible? Am I eligible? Can someone help me from around the area. I am willing to travel even if the lawyer is located far but can convince me that I am eligible to apply.

Are you married? What is the status of your spouse? Does she qualify for 245(i)? What about your parents?
