Legal Question in Immigration Law in Connecticut

Will marriage do it for me?

I am planning to marry my girlfriend here. I came on a visitors visa and am still here illegally. I wanted to know that if I marry her can I apply for the GC right away?

I also want to apply for Canadian immigration once I marry her. When one is called for an interview for the Canadian Immigration, one has to be legally in the country of the interview with the consulate or else go back to his home country for the interview. Is it possible that after marrying her, I appear for the interview here? Would they allow me?

If these two questions are answered I will appreciate it.

Assume your girl friend is a USC, then after you marry her, you can immediately file for your permanent residency in the US. The whole process is taken several months.

I don't have the answer as to whether you can apply for interview in the US for Canada immigration. The Canadian consular may be a good source for that.
