Legal Question in Employment Law in Connecticut

Contract termination/severance

I have a contract with my employer that expires at the end of November, but they have said that they have no more work for me and want to fly me home (I live in Scotland). There is a clause in the contract that it can be terminated with 21 days written notice (and I haven't had that) or for gross negligence (I haven't done that!).

There is something about a $150 per week minimum fee if I don't complete a set number of hours, which I am not going to do by right here - am I entitled to that at least as severance?

It seems my contract is being terminated when I am free and able to work and I haven't lined up any work back in Scotland yet, and they have booked my flight for this weekend!

Does anyone have any advice?

Re: Contract termination/severance

From what you have written it appears that you should have a breach of contract claim if they refuse to pay you the 21 days and the $150/week. You should raise the issue with your employer before the flight is arranged. It would probably make sense to meet with an attorney and have a letter drafted to your employer.
