Legal Question in Employment Law in Connecticut
Took the Fall
I was employed with a large corporation for the past 2 years as a supervisor. One of the employees did not like me as he felt that he had been passed over for the position that I was hired into. He and another employee did what they could to cause discomfort for me regarding their job performance etc. Finally they decided to file charge against me that I was not controlling a hostile work enviroment situation. I was unaware of this until I was called into HR and told the charges against me. I was sent home on Fridaya and told to return on Monday, my manager indicated that I would probably view a film regarding sexual harrassment etc. and receive a warning. I was told Monday morning that I was fired and would be unable to reapply with this company at any time in the future. Now friends who are still there, tell me one employee involved left the company and the other employee is beginning the same charges. I had no warning, no negative reviews etc,. I was scheduled to attend the company paid for training the Friday after I was terminated, previously I had no formal training on policies or procedures regarding sexual harrassment or stooping the hostile work environment. Is there any remedy for me?

Re: Took the Fall
It really depends upon the substance of the harassment charges and whether the substantive claims were true or false. Obviously, if false claims were made against you and it caused you to lose your position you would have legal claims.
