Legal Question in Employment Law in Connecticut

Payback of Relocation Expenses

My company requires employees to sign a statement saying they will repay relocation expenses if they willfully leave the company within 24 months of physically relocating to the place of employment. Is this binding? Can I avoid repaying these expenses if I leave the company because my job has been restructured due to business issues not related to my performance - or if I am concerned about losing my job due to business issues not related to my performance?

Re: Payback of Relocation Expenses

If you signed the contract and were not under duress you may be bound by the contract. At the same time there may be ways to negotiate out of the provision.
