Legal Question in Employment Law in Connecticut
I worked for a company for a year. My coworker bought the business from my boss. Long story short, my boss informed me that my coworker who now owns the store I worked in has elected to not keep me there after change of management. He handed me a reference letter, and that was it. And because of change of management I would not be eligible to receive unemployment pay. Is that true?

Losing your job due to a change in management should make you eligible for unemployment benefits. You should make your claim.
