Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut
accidental demolition
I share a small apartment with my mother, step father, sister and brother in CT. The new landlord is currently doing construction to update the electrical and heating. We were under the impression given to us by the landlord that they did not need to get into our apartment for anything. Other than the loud banging and yelling heard coming from the vacant apartment next to ours we've had very few complaints. But today they tore down a portion of the wall connecting our apartment and the vacant one reaching from the floor to the ceiling aproximatly two feet wide. I don't know if it was intentional without our consent or if it was by accident, but one of the construction workers did appologize after the first few holes were created. Is there anything that can be done legally speaking? My mother is very ill and under alot of stress from all the procedures she must go through and battling another case for disability. Please help.

Re: accidental demolition
You definitly have legal recourse. I would say that this is a violation of you right to quiet enjoyment of the premises and your waranty of habitability. It seems outrageous to me. Please feel free to follow up with us if you are seeking further information or counsel. 203.380.8189. - Max
