Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut
My girlfriend and I have been having health issues that we feel are attributed to mold. We have notified the rental company of these issues, but feel that they are covering up the real issue behind the wall with a new coat of paint and spackle. How should I proceed? There are other people in my building with the same health issues and damage in their apartments and the company has denied that there is any problem. All of them have claimed that they have experienced health issues and believe that mold is the cause of said issues; however, the managers have summarily dismissed the notion and, in their mind, remedied the situation by covering up the issue. How do I obligate an effectual remedy from them?
Thank you,
Eric Taylor

You can file a document with the Housing court in your district and pay your rent money into the court. As part of this proceeding you can seek the remedy you are looking for from the judge. Everyone else can join you as well. Call the clerk at the housing court in your district or go to the judicial branch website and look under how to file housing court actions.
