Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut
my landlord is not fixing the window that has a big gap, I contacted the building dept of the town, and they sent him a letter saying he has 15 days to fix it, the 15 days have passed and he is not planning on fixing anything. Now my lease has ended and my landlord is angry and will not renew my lease, he told me i have 2 months to get out, i do not want to give him any rent money, i pay for the heat and it is going out the window, he has one month security deposit, should i just not pay, or go to the court house, i have a clean record and want to keep it that way, if he chooses to start an eviction process is that permanent on my record?

An eviction judgment is bad, especially if you are looking to rent in the future. Certain key violations regarding conditions of an apartment that the landlord has to duty to fix/maintain abate the duty to pay rent under Connecticut General Statutes. There are other defenses and options to negotiate and work something out. I would be happy to further discuss with you.
