Tenant Moves Out Early/Wants Credit For Part of Month
Our tenant did not want to renew her 1 year lease because she was thinking of getting a house. We both agreed to go month to month instead. Although I typed up a new agreement extending the provisions of the old lease to a new month to month situation, she did not sign it. Her old lease expired NOV 30th. She ended up finding a house and let us know her closing was DEC 18th. She did not give us a date as to when she was moving out. She called us on DEC 22nd, told us she had moved out and asked us where she should leave the keys. When we returned her security deposit, she was upset that we did not give her credit for the last's week of the month. Do we owe her this? She claims she had given us enough notice as to when she was moving out. We have nothing in writing, that this was a month to month agreement.

No. You do not owe her any money. You were operating on a month to month basis. You were more than accommodating.
