Connecticut Car Accident
On Thursday night I was involved in a car accident in Waterbury, CT. A girl ran a stop sign and T-Boned me. I had no stop sign, I was just driving down the road. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital. I have minumum Liability insurance, with uninsured motorists coverage through Geico. The other girl has no insurance. I am a struggling college student. My car has been totalled. I am now charging a rental car on my credit card and I am going to need to purchase a car this week. I am injured - I have a sprained back, neck, knee; contusions; and a lot of pain in my arm, stomach, and back. Basically my whole body hurts. Apparently this young girl has nothing to go after as she is only 23. What can I do? Is it worth suing her or something? Someone PLEASE HELP! Thank you.

Well, this answer is in two parts, the first regarding your personal injury claim and a second for the property damage claim.
First, as for your injuries, you can make a claim under your unisured/underinsured motorist coverage for your injuries. Once the extent of your injuries is known, and you have finished appropriate treatments with a doctor, you can make a demand to be compensated by your own insurance company.
Second, as for the property damage, if you do not have comprehensive/collision coverage, then your only recourse is to file a lawsuit against the other driver.

I am sorry to hear that you have been injured and have been left without a car.
In regard to your injuries, you should make a claim against GEICO under the uninsured motorist part of your insurance ocverage. You can find information about this coverage in my firm's website under Accidents | Automobile.
In regard to your own car, if you did not have collision coverage, you can bring a small claims lawsuit against the other driver, but that will take some time. A more immediately effective course of action might be to contact the court handling her motor vehicle charges and see if the court will make restitution (paying for the damage to your car) a part of a plea agreement with the other driver.
