Legal Question in Personal Injury in Connecticut

Pre-trial settlement

My wife agreed to a settlement amount at a pre-trial hearing, made over the phone while she was at work on Friday. She then changed her mind and was told on Monday that it was too late, that the case had been closed and that she had no recourse. Is this true and accurate?

Re: Pre-trial settlement

The attorney probably filed a Withdrawal Form with the Court upon your wife's oral agreement to settle her case. She will have to execute a release before the case is actually settled. The lawsuit can probably be "reopened" but it would be difficult. Furthermore, from my own experience, clients who change their minds usually end up with less money later on.
