Legal Question in Personal Injury in Connecticut

Wrongful Death Lawsuit

I am filing a wrongful death lawsuit for my mother. She died in an apt fire and wasn't saved in time. I was my mother's only child. Her family (brothers and sisters and parents) do not want for me to get anything. Can they file a separate lawsuit? Since I am the executor of the estate and everything, aren't the only one to file a lawsuit? What if they settle and receive $$? Aren't I entitled to all of it? Can they just cut me out???

How did the fire occur? Are you filing the lawsuit Pro se or do you already have an attorney? Please feel free to contact me to discuss in more detail.

If you are already represented by a lawyer, then State Bar Rules prevent other lawyers from giving you advice about your case. So, you should address this question to your lawyer. If, however, you need a lawyer, then please contact me to discuss this matter at length.

Re: Wrongful Death Lawsuit

You need a lawyer who could answer all of the questions. It would beimprudent for us to answer without knowing all the facts. Most lawyers do not charge for an initial consultation in a wrongful death case.
