10 Pit Bulls
My neighbors have 10 Pit Bull dogs. There are no local ordinances that prohibit this. Is there any way to find out who their insurance company is to make them aware of this situation? I was told by one lawyer that unlike car insurance, they are not required to have insurance for dog liability. Aside from the noise, which have little recourse, we fear for the safety of our grandchildren who frequently play in our yard. The dogs have been loose on at least four occasions that I am aware of.

You may be able to have the dogs removed a nuisance.Connecticut law allows suits based upon nuisance;and given the number of dogs,and their violent natures,you may have a good chance of forcing their removal. Dennis P. McDonough

As the previous lawyer said, they aren't required to have insurance at all, and I know of no place where homeowner's insurance is centrally reported. You might check with the local constabulary as to your rights to protect your family if the dog(s) get loose. You might well have the right to shoot them. The local cops might (after you put that idea in their heads) have a word with the owner. Also, if the dogs are that noisy, you could bring a suit for an injunction against the nuisance.
