Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

My cousin has a radio controlled truck that he drove into his neighbors garage door, damaging the door. The neighbor wants compensation for the damage. My cousin presented the neighbor with a quote for repair. The neighbor refused the quote stating that once the door is repaired, the color will not match the other garage door. The neighbor then came up with his own quote for repair which was way more expensive due to the fact that the neighbor does not want the door repaired, but replaced. My question is... Does the neighbor have a case if they went to small claims court or is my cousin only responsible for the repair of the damage???

Your cousin may be responsible to put the door back in the condition that it was in before it was damaged. The neighbor may have a case. Your cousin may be able to convince a small claims magistrate that he has offered to do full repair.
