Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Trying to help Grandma

My husband and I are trying to help his grandmother move out of the housing situation she is in. She and her son bought a house together and there are some problems with her living there. We were wondering how to go about getting her name taken off the mortgage deed so that she could possibly receive subsidized housing closer to our family? Please help!!!

Getting her off the title to the property is easy (although it might not suit your purposes). Getting her off the mortgage is tougher. The bank would have to release her (unlikely), or the son would have to refinance (or sell) the property. Most subsidy programs, especially Title XIX, look back 3 years to see if you've given any property away before they approve the subsidy.
