Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut
My husband and I are in a lease until July, and we are living in Connecticut. Our landlord died in November, and we received our December rent check back. Her son sent it and attached a post-it saying the landlord is dead and I imagine the house will be going into foreclose. He also told us the her family is not taking resposibility of her estates. (there are several) Were does this leave us? We do not have anyone to pay rent to, or fix any repairs that need to be made, and do not want to move. What are our rights? I talked to an attorney who said the only thing he can tell us is we do not have to pay rent at this point and that we are in a strange situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should look at the lease and see what it says (if anything) regarding what happens if the landlord dies. If the lease does not say anything there are statutory protections that allow you to stay in the property until the lease expires or 60 days after title vests in the lender who foreclosed whichever occurs first.
You may want to look up the foreclosure action to see how much time you have if one was filed.
