Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Quit Claim Deed

I purchased a home in CT. in 1996. My boyfriend, now husband moved in with me in 2002 and we were married a year ago. I would like to share interest in the house with him and someone told me a quit claim deed would do that. I have researched quit claim deeds and I want to make sure we can jointly share interest in the property, not necessarily transfer it in its entirety to him. Is this the proper thing to do without redrafting the mortgage and Title?

Re: Quit Claim Deed

You should do a quit claim deed from yourself to you and him. That way you will be joint 1/2 owners in survivorship. Make sure you want to do this, however. Once it's in his name (even partially) you can't undo it without his agreement.
