Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

real estate misrepresentation

we purchased a home in june of 98, we did a walk through with the sellers and broker and were told that a certain tree line was the property boundries. we removed eight trees along the border to construct a stone wall to make the area more user friendly and to our dismay the boundries were wrong. the actual boundries are two foot into our drivway a difference of six feet by 100 feet. what are my options and what can I hope to gain if anything?

Re: real estate misrepresentation

Your first option is to compensate your neighbor for the destruction of his trees.

Your second option is, before you try anything else along your property line, to review the survey you should have had done before you purchased the house.

Your third option is to check independently everything about the real estate you plan to purchase.

Just because someone tells you something doesn't mean it's true. People make mistakes. The ultimate responsibility for getting it right is yours alone, and the costs of getting it wrong are yours alone, also.
