Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Can I refuse to sell after receiving a legitimate offer?

I am currently selling my home myself in Connecticut. If I choose to price my house low in order to attract more buyers, will it be legal for me to refuse offers which are not as high as I actually want, even if they meet the 'official' asking price?

Similarly, is it legal for any seller to the general public to refuse to sell to someone (I realise that there are reasons for which it is not leganl to refuse to sell, i.e. discriminatory due to race, sex, etc) for a non-disriminatory reason?

Yes, you can refuse offers. I have seen the low-price strategy work, but it is risky. Just be careful about your "non-discriminatory" reasons and make sure they are truly even handed.

You can refuse an offer, and refuse to sell to a particular person, so long as it isn't for one of the forbidden discriminatory reasons. Pricing it low to attract more potential buyers is a lousy way to sell, though. All you do is piss people off.
