Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut
rental agreements
our brothers have gotten our mother to sign rental agreements for very little compensation and also for five years and they can rent for another five years if they so choose but our mother cannot decline renting to them for another five years. Plus there is no provistion for cost of living increase and if she were to need to sell the land to take care of medical bills or her care her land and place of business is now tied up for 10 years. She is 80. Can these agreements be broken?

Re: rental agreements
Although I have not seen the rental agreements, I think this could be a problem for your mother. If she needs to sell the property at a later date to pay for medical care, she may not be successful in evicting them or breaking the lease.
