Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut
I just signed a new lease that goes into effect on Feb 1, 2010. We want to move because our neighbors are very noisy, but our landlord said that we cannot break our lease and if we do we will be responsible for all the rent for the remaining 12 months along with additional fees. Is there anyway to get out of our lease because our neighbors are very loud and we have complained on multiple occasions. Thank you

Document the complaints to the landlord. Get other neighbors to do the same. Landlord owes you peaceful enjoyment of the property and he violates the lease if he doesn't take steps to quiet the neighbor. Call the cops to verify, if possible.
