Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

For ten years my boyfriend's mother was with a man who cheated on her several times. When she found out, she kicked him out. Now that was 5 years ago, and he's left a motorcycle and a few of his things at her house. He has been notified that his things are there several occasions but never returned for them or inquired about retrieveing them. Is the motorcycle and the rest of the things he left behind now her property?

She could send him a letter stating that if he does not pick up the property within a specified period of time, then she shall assume that he has abandoned the property, no longer claims an interest in the property and she can dispose of it as she wishes.
