Legal Question in Tax Law in Connecticut
my business
Business started 3/292000 I have been filling taxes under my s.s.#. My accountant says I do not need a e.i.n.#, but when I filed for a grant they told me I needed an e.i.n.# and I should of had one all these years. Question 1: Have I paid more taxes then I should of ? Question 2:Is there any recourse for me, because of my accountants incompetence ? Michael, thank-you

Re: my business
Michael, I do not think there is any mandate that you must have an ein if you are a small company without employees. E.I.N stands for Employer Identification Number. However, this question would be better served to a qualified accountant. I suggest calling Cohen and Kaufmann and asking for Jason Vierra. He is one of the best I have ever worked with.
