Legal Question in Traffic Law in Connecticut
A Blind Ticket
About a month ago I was driving home in CT when a car pulled out in front of me from a stop sign. It was icy so it took a bit for me to slow down, causing me to come close to the other vehicle. The other car then starts tapping the brakes and eventually stops completely. They didn't move so I went around them. As soon as I passed them they turned on their high beams, laid on the horn and chased me to the bottom of my street. The women then got out of the car and approached my window. She yelled in my face, ''I am State Trooper Officer _____'s wife, and you are going to get a ticket!'' Two hours later (11 PM) a local officer shows up at my door and demands to see my license. He told me he was there to issue a ticket to me and wrote it out without taking my side of the story into account. The ticket was for $206 for Following too closely and Passing in a no pass zone. I sent it in not guilty. Any advice as to what I can bring to court or texts that I can have available that will help prove my case? Also, if I win this, would it be profitable to sue the woman and/or the offending officer for a work day missed, emotional distress, libel, damage to reputation?

A I can give you somemtips on this if you like but honestly, it's easier to do it over the phone. You have no obligation to hire me unless you wanted to. I am out of the office Tomorrow but could speak to you Thursday if you like.

There really isn't much paperwork you can bring to the hearing. If you do not accept the prosecutor's offer, then you will have to go to trial on the charge(s). As far as the civil suit, you may be able to recover for her outrageous conduct.
If you want, you can reach me at [email protected] and I will attempt to help you further.
