Legal Question in Traffic Law in Connecticut
Should I fight it?
I was pulled over recently in CT. an issued a ticket for having a headlight out. I have two options either pay the $75.00 or plead not guilty. What I need to know from a legal stand point is , Should I plead not guilty even though The light was out but it must have happened just that morning because it was working the day before and I also had the car in for service four days prior the the ticket, where the service tech would have checked that all the lights were in working order. Is there any leeway here or is it that your light is out and thats all that is considered? I know in RI. I would have been issued a 5 day warning. Is CT. different ? My question to you is should I fight it and do I have a chance to prevail ?

Re: Should I fight it?
It depends how much effort and time you want to put into it. If you plead not guilty and mail in the ticket, send some documentation with it showing you had it fixed. They may just nolle it at the centralized infractions bureau.
If they dont, they will give you a court date and you can go talk to a prosecutor and see if you can convince him or her to nolle it (or maybe reduce it at worst). Bring your documentation of repair.
Good luck
