Legal Question in Traffic Law in Connecticut
Pay fine or go to jail?
I am being summoned to court as I didn't have a registered car and I didn't have insurance due to financial constraints. At court, if I don't have the money to pay the fine, do I go to jail or is there a way to make a payment arrangement with the court?

Re: Pay fine or go to jail?
If there was not an accident, or driving while under the influence of alcohol or you were on probation, I doubt if you would go to jail. If you are unable to pay the fine or other charges, the court may wave the fine and make you do community service. The court would need to know your income and expences. The clerk of the court has financal affidavits that you can fill out before you talk to the court. I hope this helps. Tom Noonan
