Legal Question in Traffic Law in Connecticut
My son side swiped another driver last week and left the scene because he freaked out. (he only got his license 3 months ago) The police found him 10 minutes later and he explained what happened. They gave him a summons to appear instead of arresting him. Will he get a public defender or does he need to hire a lawyer of his own?

He can probably qualify for a public defender. For something like this, if he does not have a criminal record, he might be better off hiring a private attorney from a firm. My office handles these matters with regularity and would be happy to speak to him about options, pricing and what to expect. Please feel free to contact us.
