Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

Canadian Marriage

My wife's mother and stepfather, who were and both are U.S. citizens, were married in Canada in 1958. My wife's biological father had died before that and she has one biological brother.

Two half sisters and one half brother resulted from her mother getting remarried.

My wife's half brother is throwing a 50th wedding anniversary party for her mother and step dad. He is adamant of having a marriage ceremony in CT at the anniversary. He is concerned that since they had not been married in the U.S., he may not be entitled to or will get a reduced inheritance since the Canadian marriage may not have standing in Connecticut.

Is this true?

No. If it was valid in Canada, it will be recognized here.
