Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

Deceased co-signer

Just a follow up question on the deceased co-signer of car loan default. Since I don't know the person nor the whereabouts of the car I am unable to gain possession of it . I am not taking responsibility for loan payment without getting the car. What is the liability of the estate and it's heirs (me)if I do nothing? Do I have to notify the loan company of my brother's death? I will be filing the return by June 6th, which is six months after death. Thanks for your help.
