You do need a tax ID #.You can get one at IRS.gov, or you can have your attorney handle everything. It depends on the size of the estate as to whether you want to hire a lawyer. It's obviously a lot easier, but if it's a $10,000 estate, it's not worth it. You can contact me if you want prices, etc.
