Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

My husband passed away and I am his wife. On his insurance policy, no beneficiary was recognized. Since I am the wife, the insurance company issued a check to me but addressed it as " the estate of: instead of putting the check in my name. When I contacted the insurance company, I was told to send the death certificate, marriage license, and an affadivit concerning the estate. Although the insurance company promised to send another check in my name, they re-issued another check addressed to the same way. I was told in Probate Court that his estate is less than $10000 whereas no executor of estate is needed. I want to know what else I need to do to take care of this situation.

Did you call the insurance company back and ask them why they didn't reissue the check in your name only?
