Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut
Ira
Who would be the heir to an IRA acc't in
a situation where the parents were
never married and there was no
designation of an heir on the IRA acc't.
Would the daughter inherit from her
deceased father or would the IRA be
given to the estate heirs to be
distributed as stipulated in a will not
mentioning the IRA account. The
contract in the IRA acc't states that the
IRA money should go to the spouse and
then the child, but since there was no
marriage is this still true?

Re: Ira
If the father had acknowledged (formally) the child, then, assuming the language in the IRA contract is as you say, the children (all of them) should take equally.
