If you add someone to the deed, it's done forever. You can't change your mind later and get the property back (unless the other party deeds the property back to you). Also, the other party's creditors can get at the property. If there's a divorce, say, or the other party owes money or gets in a car accident and doesn't have enough insurance, etc., someone could attach the property. Also, depending on the value of the property, you may incur a gift tax. It's better to leave the property in your will. You can always change your will later if you change your mind and the property won't be exposed to the other party's financial problems.
