re: lifetime use of house upon husband's death..State=CT: lived together 23 years; married 14 years, he owned house for 12 yrs prior to my moving in; he paid mortage and utilites; no life insurance for me. Questions: Am i responsible for upkeep, taxes ect after his death, what if i can't afford to live here, what if i need to go to a nursing home, what happens to all the contributions I've made to the home in the last 23 years, is there a legal way around this other than divorce?

I don't have enough information to answer your question. Does he have a will? If so, what does it say? Have you asked him these questions? You need to get some answers. Once he dies, you will most likely not be able to recoup the monies you paid into the house all of these years. Why doesn't he put your name on the deed?
