Re: Live-in companian rights
I am assuming from your question that you and your fiance owned this house as joint tenants with rights of survivorship. What this means is that upon the death of your fiance you became the sole owner of the property. I am also assuming by "mortgage insurance" you refer to as an insurance policy which would provide for the payment of the mortgage in the event of the death of your fiance. If you had such insurance, the insurer would pay your mortgage in full so that you would own the property outright. However, since you and your fiance had no such mortgage protection, you will be required to make the full payments as they become due on the mortgage, or the bank will foreclose and you will lose the house.
