Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

my mom passed away about a year ago.my brother was the executor.her house was sold and the closing was 11/14/09.she left no will but is survived by my brother and me.my brother and i hate each other.i believe he attended the closing.am i entitled to half the money?and if so, shouldn't i have heard something from somebody? my brother and i don't talk.

I'm confused. If your mother did not leave a will, how did your brother become the executor? If an estate was opened in probate court, then you need to go down there and find out what he filed. If he did not file anything, or, an estate was not opened, then your brother is not in charge and you should open an estate in probate court and claim one-half the money.
