Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

my mother in law purchawed a number of US savings bonds in her and my late husband's names. she has recently passed away and the question is whether those savings bonds should pass to me or into her estate. she had no will & except for the bonds she purchased for all of her children, there is very little else in her estate.

If her estate does not exceed $40,000.00 then an affidavit of small estate could be filed in lieu of a more complicated procedure with or without a will. If your husband passed before your mother-in-law and the bonds were in joint names, then I would think they become a part of her estate.
