power of attorrney/attorney in fact/agent

my mother is in a home for the aging. her doctor said her mind is going in and out of reality (dementia). in her present state of mind, or lact thereof. how can I, her son by birth and my father is dead, and my brothers and sister are pushing me to be the one. how do i go about it in

New Haven, connecticut?

She can't sign a power of attorney if she's demented. You could go to the probate court in New Haven and have yourself appointed her conservator. Call the probate court and they'll tell you how.
