Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

Return of Claims

I don't know where to turn and found this website. Can you help?

My father has passed away and my brother and I are trying to settle his estate. I have a quick legal question and don't know where to go for information. I am at the stage of filling out a Return of Claims form for the probate court and do not know what is involved or how to do it. I just need some guidance. Can you help?

Thank You.

Re: Return of Claims

The Return and List of Claims is a form you can get from the probate court or on the web (go to the State's site, click judicial, probate, tools for practice, forms - there'll be a list with a fillable Return form). What this form is looking for is those bills which are for goods and services incurred prior to death, but billed after death, such as medical bills not covered by insurance, last utilities, etc. If you don't dispute the amount, then just put in the date paid and the amount, total the thing and send to court. If you do dispute the bill, it gets complicated and you'll probably need a lawyer. If you want to chat to see if you might want to hire a lawyer, pricing, etc., give me a call at 860.233.6336.
