Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

without a will

My grandmother died w/o a will in ct. My uncle has since sold all her belongings and her house. My father passed away 16 years ago and would have been entitled to half of her estate. People are telling me that as my fathers sole survivors my brother and I are entitled to my fathers half. Is this true?

Re: without a will

That's a good question. I read the statute and I believe you and your brother may be entitled to your father's share. You should go down to the probate court in the town where your father lived and open an estate for your grandmother.
