Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

Will registration

When a will is written, is this will then registerd anywhere? In otherwords, if I have a will drawn up by an attorney, and die six years from now, what would happen if say my brother or children said I had no will. Would my estate go to probate, or is there a database somewhere that attorneys register the existance of a will.

Thanks

Sherry

Re: Will registration

Unless you file your will with the court or a bank or leave it with a trusted friend anything could happen with it.

Re: Will registration

In Connecticut, we do not have a system whereby someone can "file" a will with a court or a bank. This is why one should always give a trusted close relative or friend a copy of their will. Attorneys are supposed to save a copy of the will they draft for clients indefinitely. If the original is not located, a copy of the will can be probated.
