My wifes grandmother just passed, and left a will, the trustee she appointed in the will is very shady and not trusted by my wife. how does she go about getting that trustee changed to a courtappointed, neutral party?

First of all, do you mean "trustee" or "executor?" There is a difference. A trustee manages the trust assets and owes certain duties to the beneficiaries of the trust. The executor manages the estate assets and owes certain duties to the beneficiaries of the estate.

Nevertheless, you say the trustee is "shady." You can request the probate court to remove the trustee and appoint someone else, however, you probably need to show more than an opinion that she/he is "shady." You will need to show actual fiduciary breach on the part of the trustee or some kind of inability to perform the duties of a trustee.
