Legal Question in International Law in Cyprus
Greetings. I have joined a company in Cyprus and in my contract there was a clause where it said that if i leave the company before the completion of 6 months I need to pay the company 5000 euros for training me. Is that even legal? I am thinking of leaving the job as I did not like it and I wanted to know if I am obliged to pay that amount to them. Thank you.

You may be contractually liable to pay any such amount under a contract you have duly executed with your employer. This would particularly be the case if the contract entails paid training afforded to you. It would all depend on the contact however and deciding to terminate this before the 6-month period may lead to a claim against you towards payment of the amount provided under the terms of the contract.
