Legal Question in Family Law in Delaware

Emancipation of Youth???

I would like to know the procedure to become emancipated from your parents. What are the legal requirements of this action? What is needed for it to happen?

Re: Emancipation of Youth???

This matter is governed by state law "Delaware", so you have to

check your local law.

Most states requiere a minimun age, 16, 15 maybe 14. Then you have to file a petition

stating the grounds for your request; ex: you want to govern your finances because

you have your own business, you are being harrased by your parents

and can show the court you can take care of yourself, others.

Them the court will set a hearing and maybe refer the

matter to the state family prosecutor, for them to oversee the process.

Then the court will study the evidence and allegations filed and will

hear your testimony and that of your parents, and the governments position.

Good luck!
