personal loan

i loaned a friend 5200.00 to buy his son a dirt bike, the loan wasnt given directley to him, i made a check out to the dirt bike dealer, it was a verbal agreement, he has paid some of the loan and i took another dirt bike he had for 2500.00 which left him with a balance of owing me 2000.00, do i have any rights, can i get this money from him if it was a verbal agreement, i'am a widow and he took advantage of the situation.

This is a mattter for JP Court.

You may bring an action in JP Court to recover your $2,000. Without a written contract the case will be decided by the judge on credibility issues. Any partial repayment documents, copies of your check to dirt bike dealer, bill of sale for bike etc will be helpful to your case.
